Joint preservation surgery

65 yrs old lady sustained right hip comminuted fracture following fall at home. She has past history of two times cardiac events occurred 2 yrs back thus she was quite high risk to undergo surgery. We managed her quite safely with regional Anaesthesia and planned to go with minimally invasive nailing to stabilize the fracture and to mobilize her early. Postop xray showed well stabilized comminuted proximal hip fracture and now she has been discharged happily, walking comfortably with support. We routinely performed such complex surgeries in geriatric age group patients who are high risk due to preexisting osteoporosis, cardiac issues, kidney disease, hypertension and diabetes with all safety measures to ensure good recovery.
